Michelle and Jason

I've known Michelle for years. And back when she told me about her new police officer boyfriend, I said, "You know you're getting married, right? In our circle of friends, there are at least a half-dozen Preschool Teacher + Cop combinations."

Sure enough, I was right, and I'm also fortunate enough to be doing their wedding photography in May.

Here are some engagement shots, a few are taken with a badass (rented) 70-200 f/2.8VR:

Seattle and the D90

My buddy Jeff has decided to get into digital photography, and picked up a Nikon D90 kit yesterday. We took some sample shots all over Seattle: Alki Beach, Queen Anne Hill. I was thoroughly impressed with some of the features, although I can't see myself dumping my D80 anytime soon.

Here are some shots from the night:

More Fishy Shots

At a wedding (I was a groomsman, so I just shot for fun) Saturday night, I broke out The Fish on the dancefloor. I love this one, because I'm in the bottom left corner, even though I was holding the camera at arms length!

I believe that at this point, Jay (the best man) was trying to tell the bridesmaids that he was number one. I'm not sure, though

Sunday I went cruising down to Ocean Shores with my buddy and his Volkswagen Club.

Some of the effects are amazing! The car absolutely disappears behind the wheel!
See me rollin. They Hatin.

I love the happy accident of the kid in the matching outfit in the corner on this one:

I can see this $25/weekend rental is quickly going to turn into a $700 purchase....

Rockin' the fisheye

I've got a full weekend planned: I'm a groomsman in a good friend's wedding, so I'll have time to relax and take fun pictures with no stress. Plus, Sunday is a VW Road trip with another friend to Ocean Shores. With so many fun, potential photo-ops, I swung down to Glazer's Camera in Downtown Seattle to rent a 10.5mm Fisheye lens for the weekend. A fisheye lens creates super-distorted perspective and lines, making for some funky cool shots. Here are a couple that I took as soon as I got the lens. There will be more to follow by the end of the weekend...
